The Batman: Robert Pattinson seen in full Batsuit next to new Batmobile

The first look at Robert Pattinson in his full Batsuit has been released, in images also showing off the new Batmobile.

Director Matt Reeves posted the photos, which depict a gritty version of Gotham, on his Twitter page.

Batman‘s vehicle is far different to the one seen in recent films. In place of a bespoke build is an enhanced version of a standard muscle car – one that comes with an exposed engine and a third brake, which will undoubtedly come in handy during the film’s chase sequences.

Pattinson will play the superhero in the new DC film, which will also see Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as the villainous Riddler.

Reeves, whose most recent film was the acclaimed War for the Planet of the Apes, recently revealed that Michael Giacchino will provide the score.

In September last year, Bale urged Pattinson not to “listen to the naysayers” and to “make [the role] his own”.

“Think about it,” he said. “Everybody protested when Heath [Ledger] was cast as the Joker. Look what an absolutely brilliant performance he gave. Don’t listen to those guys, do his own thing. He’s a fascinating actor and a great choice.”

Pattinson previously revealed he was “furious” when rumours first emerged that he was being cast as Batman

The British actor was prematurely announced as the next Batman in the middle of May, two weeks before the official confirmation.

“When that thing leaked, I was f***ing furious,” Pattinson told Variety. “Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing.”

Pattinson officially found out he had been cast as the next Bruce Wayne on his first day on the set of Tenet, the spy thriller from The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

Fans still have some time to wait to see the full feature film, which is scheduled for release on 25 June, 2021.
