'The ball is on the M1' Mateusz Klich jokes about his shocking miss against Millwall

Mateusz Klich has reflected on Leeds United's stunning comeback from two goals behind to beat Millwall 3-2, and his own unbelievable miss late on.

Leeds went two goals behind early on, ramping up the pressure having come into the game off back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers.

But they responded with a stunning performance after the break, scoring three goals in 15 second-half minutes with two from Patrick Bamford either side of a long-range Pablo Hernandez strike.

Klich put in , helping fill the gap left by the suspended Kalvin Phillips at the base of midfield, but his miss is one moment he won't want to watch back again.

"After we lost the second goal, we were good in the first half already," said Klich, speaking to media after the game.

"We had some chances we should have scored."

Perhaps most culpable was himself, teed up 12 yards away with the goal gaping, only to blast it well over after 82 minutes. Had he found the target Leeds would have been 4-2 up with the points surely secured.

Millwall immediately responded by sending battering ram Matt Smith on, and there was a palpable sense of nervousness that the former Leeds striker would make Marcelo Bielsa's men pay for their profligacy, especially when they were awarded an injury-time corner.

But Kiko Casilla claimed it and Leeds saw out their one-goal lead to record their first win of 2020.

Klich didn't need to be prompted to reflect on his gilt-edged chance.

"We need the goals and I had a great chance as well and the ball was on the M1," he joked - a line he later repeated on Twitter when replying to a tweet from fanzine The Square Ball:

"There might be some people out there to help me find the ball."

Next up for Leeds is another home clash, this time against Wigan Athletic, on Saturday.
