The sixth season of Bachelor in Paradise concluded with three engagements on Tuesday night, and ABC revealed its polarizing choice as the new lead for the upcoming season of The Bachelor.
Peter Weber, a pilot who was a cast member on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, will serve as the next Bachelor – but legions of fans were hoping the show would make history by selecting Mike Johnson to be the first-ever black Bachelor.
Mike became a fan favorite throughout Hannah B.’s season, and was speculated to be a leading candidate to become the next Bachelor by fans. He appeared on Bachelor In Paradise, but he didn’t enter any serious relationships on the show and was eliminated in Week 4. It’s unclear if Mike wanted to be the Bachelor, and is currently rumored to have a connection with Demi Lovato, but fans sounded off on social media after Peter was announced as the incoming Bachelor.
