‘The Bachelor’ meets ‘Bridgerton’ in Peacock’s new reality dating show

There’s no guilty pleasure quite like reality television, especially when it comes to reality dating shows. So you could definitely say the intrigue of Peacock’s new reality dating show Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance, where one “heroine” will be searching for her very own “duke,” is enough to draw plenty of interest.

While the show is quite literally inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, it’s certainly capitalizing off the success of shows like The Bachelor, which has been airing for almost 20 years, and Bridgerton, which set streaming records at Netflix when it premiered last Christmas.

This Regency-style reality series — described as “a time-traveling quest for love” — will feature a group of men vying for the affections of one woman, which will be carried out in an environment resembling England circa 1810-1820 — lavish castle, carriage rides, balls, handwritten letters and all.

Here’s the full announcement from Peacock, which was unveiled much like a Lady Whistledown’s society papers on Bridgerton.

And the premise already has some fans eager to see it unfold…and perhaps sign up themselves.

And just in case you’re interested in auditioning for the show, Peacock has a 50-question quiz you can complete.
