The baby names falling out of fashion including Oscar, Amelia and Isla

If you’ve had a new addition in your family over the last ten years, then chances are you know an Amelia, Oscar, Isla, or Olivia.

These names have reigned supreme on the annual top ten for the last ten years but their popularity is beginning to wain as they fall out of fashion with parents opting for more old-fashioned names and shunning the most popular monikers.

Family history platform MyHeritage has tracked name trends for the last five years and matched it with hundreds of years of birth name data from their archives to spot the names dropping from the top spots.

Their research found that last year’s most popular boy’s name, Oliver, is set to drop from the top 100 before the end of the decade. They also found that Amelia is likely to suffer the same fate.

As trends change, the trending names for the 2010s are dropping as Victorian names swing back into fashion. Names like Violet, Mabel, Elsie, Clara, Henry, Daisy, and Beatrice have soared back into the top spots after decades.
