To many they are just that band who had a couple of hits back in the day (Rock Lobster, Love Shack) but there's good reason The B-52's have shifted over 20 million albums, were nominated for a Grammy and had the likes of John Lennon, Madonna, Michael Stipe and Dave Grohl raving about them.
In more recent years Panic! At The Disco, Blood Orange, The Offspring, Pitbull, Roger Sanchez, and DJ Shadow have sampled from their back catalogue. You may have even heard them on Family Guy and The Simpsons.
More than 40 years on from their formation in Athens, Georgia (the small town which also gave the world REM), The B-52's are going on a farewell tour that includes just four shows in the UK - and one of them is in Nottingham.
The band - Fred Schneider (vocals, toy piano), Kate Pierson (vocals, keyboards), Cindy Wilson (vocals, percussion), and Keith Strickland (guitar, drums, keys, programming) - play the Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday, July 2.
