Ayrshire edged closer to recording 200 Covid-linked deaths in 2021, new figures revealed yesterday.
A total of 197 death certificates this year up to February 7 mentioned COVID-19, National Records of Scotland data shows.
That means Ayrshire has recorded 775 virus-related deaths since the pandemic began.
Between February 1 and February 7, the region recorded a significant decrease in coronavirus deaths.
A total of 27 deaths were linked to the virus during the aforementioned week — the lowest the weekly total has been since the end of December.
The new data shows that Ayrshire has recorded three consecutive weeks of decreasing death tolls.
