The awkward Gareth Bale video spotted before Real Madrid's Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain

He's recently returned to the first-team fold at Real Madrid having come agonisingly close to leaving the Spanish giants in the summer.

And Gareth Bale could well outlive Zinedine Zidane in Madrid following the capital outfit's poor start to the 2019/20 season.

The Welshman had been frozen out by Zidane and was on the brink of a move to Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning just a few months ago, although the switch collapsed at the final hurdle.

Bale has since returned to action with the club, with Zidane performing an extraordinary U-turn after recently saying the 30-year-old is now a key figure in his plans having previously stated he was surplus to requirements.

And while Bale was the talk of social media on Wednesday night after he had a stunning goal ruled out for handball, the Welshman has become the centre of attention once again after eagle-eyed viewers spotted something rather awkward involving the Wales international before Real Madrid's 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Raphael Varane handed Bale the club's official pennant as Real Madrid's starting XI prepared to pose for their pre-match photo in Paris.

And after reluctantly accepting to hold the pennant, Bale swiftly shifted it on to a team-mate to hold for the team picture.

Many fans believe the gesture was Bale's way of showing his displeasure at the way he was previously treated by the club, although the reason has not been explained by the Wales star or the club.

Bale has featured four times for Real Madrid in all competitions so far this season, scoring two goals.
