Erling Haaland occupied the transfer gossip columns ahead of the January transfer window and on his Borussia Dortmund debut he showed exactly why by matching a feat achieved by Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Aubameyang was once a key man for the Germans, having starred for the club from 2013 to 2018 before joining the Gunners.
The 30-year-old is now a pivotal player for Arsenal and was named the captain last November after Granit Xhaka had the armband taken away from him.
In the ensuing years, Dortmund have not fully replaced Aubameyang until potentially now, with Haaland providing a scintillating showing on his debut against Augsburg in a 5-3 win on the road.
The 19-year-old didn't even start the game but came on to score a debut hat-trick inside of 20 minutes, something which Aubameyang did on his Dortmund debut back in 2013, with Jadon Sancho and Julian Brandt also scoring for the visitors.
Haaland was heavily linked with Manchester United ahead of the January window but he chose to sign for Dortmund.
His deal runs until the summer of 2024 after the Germans paid RB Salzburg the release clause of €22.5 million (£19.1m).
Aubameyang, meanwhile, is out of action for Arsenal for another two games following his red card at Crystal Palace last Saturday.
The former Dortmund striker will return for the Gunners next month.
