The Astros losing a World Series game because their pitcher might have been tipping pitches is absolutely hilarious

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

Remember when the Astros used a trash can to steal a World Series title away from teams that weren’t using trash cans to help their hitters win games? Yeah, that was a thing that happened in 2017 and it still has fans calling Houston cheaters.

Well, it looks like there might have been some cosmic payback last night in Game 3 of the World Series because it sure seemed like Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. was tipping his pitches in a 7-0 loss that saw the Phillies crush a record-tying five home runs in the win.

I’m gonna pause for a second so I can have a good laugh over the Astros losing a World Series game because their pitcher might have been tipping pitches. Back in a second.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

(Breathes in deeply.)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ok, I’m back. Man that felt good.

I’m sorry, but this is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in sports in a long, long time. I can’t get over something like this happening to a franchise that would deserve something like this to happen to them. It’s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

And hilarious.

This whole thing started early in Game 3 after Bryce Harper crushed a home run and then called his teammate, Alec Bohm, over for a quick chat before he went to the plate. Once Bohm got to the plate he ripped a home run to left on the very first pitch that he saw.

What did they talk about? Bohm told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal during the game that it was something he was going to keep private.

But it was really something we could all see with our own eyes because the Phillies continued to pound McCullers’ pitches out of the stadium before finally chasing him from the game in the fifth inning following back-to-back home runs by Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins.

This will probably be the only time of the series that the Phillies will have such an advantage and they sure took advantage of it. The 2017 Astros, of course, had an advantage for a lot of games and won the championship because of it.

But if this win can help lift the Phillies to a World Series title I’m pretty sure baseball fans everywhere would love it.

And I’m also guessing they would all enjoy pointing and laughing at the Astros some more.

I know I would!

Quick hits: NFL trade deadline winners and losers… NHL power rankings… Physicist breaks down wild NASCAR move… And more.

– The NFL trade deadline was wild yesterday, with so many moves being made. Here are our winners and losers (hello, Aaron Rodgers) from it all.

– Mary Clarke has her latest NHL power rankings.

– Michelle Martinelli had a physicist break down how NASCAR driver Ross Chastain was able to pull off that wild move along the wall on Sunday.

– The Nets fired Steve Nash yesterday and the timing of it seemed really odd.
