The astonishing Thomas Partey stat that demonstrates how crucial £45m midfielder is to Arsenal

Thomas Partey is beginning to show why Arsenal splashed out £45million to sign him on transfer deadline day back in October 2020.

Partey had established himself as one of Europe's most consistent midfielders during his time with Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid before Gunners technical director Edu opted to activate the Ghanian's release clause and bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

However, the 28-year-old struggled for fitness during his first season in England, playing just 24 times in the Premier League as he suffered from a plethora of injuries that meant he never really got into a rhythm for Mikel Arteta's men.

The tough-tackling midfielder then missed the first month of the current campaign as he was sidelined for the first three league fixtures of the season, with Arsenal losing all three encounters whilst failing to score a single goal in the process.

Partey then returned to full fitness during a 1-0 win against newly-promoted Norwich City and has played in all six of the club's league outings since, avoiding defeat in each of those matches as the north Londoners have climbed up the table - currently sitting sixth after a 2-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

In fact, the former Atletico star remains unbeaten in the English top-flight since the Gunners' 1-0 loss to Everton back in April - a remarkable statistic that further illustrates just how important he is to Arsenal's fortunes.

In recent weeks, Partey has formed a solid partnership with Belgian youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga in the heart of Arteta's team, who will be hoping to continue their fine run of form next weekend as they host Watford at the Emirates.
