The astonishing Antonio Conte fact that makes Spurs' boss more of a winner than Jurgen Klopp

Antonio Conte was appointed as Tottenham Hotspur's new head coach on Monday afternoon.

Former Chelsea head coach Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on Monday morning after just four months in N17.

The former Wolves boss lost five of his first 10 Premier League games with Spurs, who now sit ninth in the current standings, five points behind fourth-placed West Ham United going into the weekend's fixtures.

Conte arrives in north London with considerable expectation from Tottenham fans given the experienced Italian coach has won the league title at each of his last three clubs.

The 52-year-old clinched Serie A titles with both Juventus and Inter Milan, whilst also lifting the Premier League crown during his stint with Chelsea back in 2017.

Spurs' new manager enjoyed an extremely successful two-year stint at Stamford Bridge, winning 67% of his league matches during his time in west London, a higher percentage than Liverpool icon Jurgen Klopp - who has won 63% of his games in the English top-flight.

Similarly, Conte's record is higher than current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who has clinched all three points in 65% of his matches in the Premier League.

Tottenham supporters will be hoping that the experienced Italian can continue his fine record in England, with his first match in the Lillywhites' managerial dugout likely to come on Thursday night against Vitesse in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Speaking to the club's official website about his appointment, Conte said: “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

“Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world.

“I can't wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach."
