The Aston Martin DBZ Centenary Collection pays homage to the past and creates a future classic

LUXURY sports car maker Aston Martin has unveiled the DBS GT Zagato – the modern twin to the previously revealed DB4 GT Zagato Continuation.

Together, they form the exclusive DBZ Centenary Collection and just 19 pairs are being built by the iconic British marque for buyers – with a price tag of £6million plus tax.

Based on the DBS Superleggera, the newcomer is powered by a 760bhp 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine and was revealed at an event on Rhode Island in the States.

It featured a unique Supernova Red paintjob with contrasting exposed carbon fibre accents and satin black and gold 3D-machined wheels, as well as 18-carat gold badging.

The event machine’s cabin was swathed in Caithness Spicy Red leather and showed off a world-first automotive use of customised carbon and metal 3D-printed finishes. The process is used to create a stunning central “saddle” design, and includes the option of a special gold finish.

The track-only DB4 GT Zagato Continuation, with a 4.7-litre straight-six engine developing in excess of 390bhp, was unveiled earlier in the year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With rear-wheel drive and a four-speed manual gearbox, its design and finish harks back to the original race machine of the 1960s. First deliveries of the DB4 are under way now and customers can expect the DBS to start arriving towards the end of next year.

The British marque says its uniquely ambitious project, created to celebrate the centenary of Italian design house Zagato, pays tribute to an icon of the past and creates a classic of the future.

Aston Martin Works boss Paul Spires said: “Paired with the new beauty that is the stunning DBS GT Zagato, the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars are a unique and fitting celebration of the brand’s 60-year love affair with this unmatched Italian automotive style icon.”
