Manchester City's defeat against Wolves has got Arsenal supporters talking.
Despite the fact this result does not help the Gunners' chances of claiming a top four finish in the Premier League finish this season, there's been a huge reaction to events at Molineux Stadium.
Having watched leaders Liverpool dismantle Leicester City 4-0 at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day, Pep Guardiola's side knew that had to win in order to keep alive their slim hopes of retaining their league title.
And with 50 minutes of the game gone they were well on their way to three points.
A brace from Raheem Sterling had the visitors in cruise control - a feat made all the more impressive given they had played almost the entire first-half with 10-men following Ederson's sending off.
But in the end the extra man paid dividends for Wolves.
Adama Traore got the ball rolling, Raul Jimenez equalised and then Matt Doherty scored what turned out to be the winner a minute from time to seal an historic win for the hosts.
This has prompted some Arsenal fans to suggest the reason for City's defeat is down to Mikel Arteta no longer being Pep Guardiola's assistant at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spaniard had been by his compatriot's side until last week Friday when he returned to the Emirates Stadium as the new Gunners head coach.
Of course the Wolves comeback can be attributed to City being reduced to 10-men as early as the 12th minute.
But a majority of Arsenal fans are adamant that Arteta's absence is the real reason for the reigning Premier League champions' collapse against Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
