Everyone sees the world differently. During this masterclass with Guardian photographer Anthony Epes, you’ll learn how to express your unique way of looking at the world through your photography.

Through talks and practical exercises, you’ll discover how to improve your technical skills, train your ‘eye’ and become a more perceptive photographer. Plus, you’ll take part in an immersive photo walk in London, enabling you to create a portfolio of images to be proud of.

  • Finding out – or developing – what you’re passionate about through your photography
  • Overview of the key elements of your digital camera, plus practical tuition to help you develop your technical skills
  • The benefits of shooting on manual settings
  • Mastering creative composition and exposure
  • Technical tips – from how to adapt your camera to different light conditions to how to master shutter speed and ISO
  • Practical photo shoot around London, with feedback and tailored advice provided during the class

What to bring

  • Please bring along your own digital camera (fully charged) and any other photography equipment you may want to use

Course preparation

  • Before attending the class, you’re encouraged to read your camera manual and familiarise yourself with it

Tutor profile

Anthony Epes is a fine art and commercial photographer whose work has featured in the Guardian, French Photo, Time Out, The Big Issue and many other international publications. He’s published two books, London at Dawn and Paris at Dawn, and is currently preparing to launch further installments shot in Venice, New York and Istanbul. He tweets @citiesatdawn.
