Arsenal are back in pre-season action today (Tuesday) as the Gunners take on Queens Park Rangers in a behind closed doors friendly at London Colony.
The Arsenal team is expected to be a mix of first-team and U23 squad members as players look to build up their fitness ahead of the return of the Premier League in under two weeks’ time.
A trip to Fulham is on the cards first for Arsenal as they look to build on their Community Shield win over Premier League Champions at Wembley Stadium last weekend.
The Gunners came out victorious in a penalty shootout after Takum Minamino’s second-half goal cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 12th-minute opener.
It was Aubameyang who scored the winning penalty to give Arsenal their second piece of silverware in the space of a month after lifting the FA Cup at the start of August.
Although it may be unknown who takes part in the friendly against QPR this afternoon, the social media activity of one young player indicates that he will be at least involved in the squad.
17-year-old midfielder Miguel Azeez is mainly part of the club’s U18 set-up, although he has played for the U23s on three occasions.
The player has put a picture of his number 22 Arsenal shirt on his Instagram stories, along with the caption reading “game day.”
Azeez has represented England at U16, U17, and U18 level and caught the eye in the Arsenal academy last season.
The teenager will be hoping to further impress alongside first-team players when he lines up against QPR at London Colony, with the aim of soon breaking into the first team at the Emirates Stadium.
