The Arsenal transfer decision that could impact Leeds United's Ben White move

Leeds United have been handed a boost in their quest to sign a defender as an avenue to sign one particular target may have just emerged.

The Whites have been attributed with an interest in signing Arsenal centre-back Rob Holding, with the future of the former Bolton Wanderers man being uncertain.

William Saliba's return from loan at St. Etienne and the imminent capture of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille has bolstered Mikel Arteta's options in the heart of defence.

As a result, the Daily Star reports that Arteta has deemed the 23-year-old to be surplus to requirements and will allow a sale in order to raise funds for further business in the market.

Holding would provide valuable Premier League experience for Leeds, having made 78 appearances in all competitions since making his debut in 2016.

However, he made just eight appearances last term and his time at the Emirates Stadium now appears to be coming to a close, with Arsenal set to make a significant defensive addition for the second year in a row.

Leeds could face competition in the market for Holding's services, with playoff winners Fulham also said to be interested in a deal.
