Jose Mourinho does not even remember Nicolas Pepe being able to contribute for Arsenal in Sunday's north London derby because of the performance of Ben Davies.
The Tottenham Hotspur left-back has drawn plenty of praise this week from the head coach and could have also scored on Sunday had his fierce 35-yard drive not been pushed on to the crossbar by Gunners goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the first half.
Davies was backed up by Lucas Moura, who put in a hard-working performance in front of him down the left in helping stop not only Pepe but Arsenal's right wing-back Hector Bellerin.
Mourinho praised his players and said he did not even remember Pepe really getting involved in the game before he was substituted in the 70th minute.
When asked if Davies was an unsung hero for Spurs, the Portuguese said to the club's social media channels: "I agree. When people sometimes look for a Man of the Match, they look to the amazing goal, or an incredible assist, sometimes people forget that these guys, they are impeccable in their work.
"I don’t remember Pepe in the game, such a good player. I remember Bellerin once, when he cut inside and tried to shoot with his left foot. Ben and Lucas did incredible work."
He added: "Speaking about Ben, and I think he’s stable every match, and going forward, he knows when to go, he knows how to go, he knows what to do.
"He was very unlucky because his shot was tremendous and Martinez made a phenomenal save."
