Mikel Arteta has a huge task on his hands at Arsenal if and when he land the role.
The Man City assistant is in talks with the Gunners over replacing Unai Emery as the club's long-term head coach.
Freddie Ljungberg has been in charge on an interim basis but Arsenal have always been looking for a permanent solution from outside the club.
That man appears set to be Arteta, who has been Pep Guardiola's assistant at City for the last three years. He would arrive at the Emirates with bags of plaudits but not a great deal of experience. This latter fact has led to plenty of reaction and even criticism from pundits.
Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has been the latest to add his thoughts to the mix and whilst he is not as critical of Arteta as Paul Merson has been, he has explained the key issues which need to be solved at the Gunners.
"The list of issues to solve is endless for Mikel Arteta," Bent, who was speaking on behalf of GentingBet, told football.london.
"They have a lack of leaders and responsibility. The direction of the football club, signings and who is in charge. There are so many problems out there but the first issue that needs addressing is they need direction. They need stability.
"I watched them at Sheffield United the other week and they got absolutely destroyed. Every team that plays against Arsenal now know they have got an opportunity. There is no fear factor with the club now and the guy who comes in needs to get that back."
On Arteta, Bent added: "Everyone has to start somewhere. Is he the right man at the moment as Arsenal fall down the league table? Probably not. They need someone with experience and who has been there and done that.
"It's probably not the right appointment but hopefully he will come in and work miracles. I think it's going to be a difficult one, though."
