The two Arsenal players Mikel Arteta will be without for visit of Leeds United

The Arsenal team news for Sunday's Premier League game against Leeds United is mixed news for manager Mikel Arteta.

On one hand, the Spaniard will have both Bernd Leno and David Luiz available for selection after the pair served their one-game suspensions last weekend after being sent-off in the 2-1 loss at Wolves.

Both players watched on from home as the north London outfit were beaten by Aston Villa to complete a miserable few days in the Midlands, but as confirmed by Arsenal.com, they are in contention to return against Leeds.

"Bernd Leno. Available for selection after one-match suspension," a statement reads. "David Luiz. Available for selection after one-match suspension."

However, the bad news is that Arteta will be without as many as two key first-team players for the visit of Marcelo Bielsa's side who have impressed many on their long-awaited return to the top-flight of English football.

Thomas Partey sustained a hamstring strain at Villa Park and has been ruled out of the game against Leeds and will be joined on the sidelines by Kieran Tierney who hasn't featured since the 3-0 Premier League win over Newcastle United last month.

In regards to the latter, Arteta has revealed how long he expects the Scotland international to be out for.

"We’re going to have to see how the knee reacts when he starts to get a little bit more load," said the Spaniard when asked about a potential return date.

"He hasn’t done much yet. He’s very positive at the moment he’s in great spirits, he’s desperate to get back on the team.

"We will see in the next few days the moment he starts to train more with the team how that knee is feeling and react a lot."

In Partey's absence, Arteta could choose to recall either Dani Ceballos or Mohamed Elneny to partner Granit Xhaka in the engine room.

Meanwhile, Cedric Soares is likely to deputise at left-back once again.

Arsenal have a tough run of fixtures starting with the visit of Leeds as they face Benfica, Manchester City, and Leicester City before the month is out, so will need Partey and Tierney back fit as soon as possible.
