The Arsenal morning headlines: Plan for Aubameyang replacement, Arteta's Leno message

Here are your morning headlines for Saturday, 7th March.

Aubameyang replacement eyed

Arsenal have apparently got their eye on a long-term replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Le10 Sport claim that the Gunners are tracking PSV star Donyell Malen. The 21-year-old has got 11 goals and five assists in 14 Eredivisie games.

The young striker underwent knee surgery in December, and should be out for the rest of the season.

But he's apparently a long-term prospect that Arsenal have been tracking, and they could make a move if Aubameyang moves on.

Arteta's Leno instruction

Early on, he rushed out to meet Sebastien Haller and timed his challenge to perfection to knock the ball out of his path. Shortly after he raced off his line to sweep up a ball over the top and stop Pablo Mari's pace being exposed.

Already setting the tone from the back, he grew immensely in the second half with three crucial stops. One a clawed save to keep out a near-perfect Michail Antonio header, then he reacted quickly to keep Haller's near post flick out before charging through bodies to deal with dangerous crosses.

And Arteta had some instructions for the keeper after a hairy situation.

Arsenal's missing link

Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy has said that Arsenal missed the energy of Matteo Guendouzi or Lucas Torreira in the middle of the park during the 1-0 win over West Ham.

The Gunners took three points from the game after the decision to chalk Alexandre Lacazette's finish off for offside in the 78th minute was overturned after a lengthy VAR consultation.

The assistant referee originally ruled Mesut Ozil to be in an offside position before he flicked the ball to Lacazette, but replays showed it differently with the goal being awarded.

It proved to be the goal that separated the two teams in a close game.
