Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Wednesday, April 1.
Arshavin does not see Arsenal future for Ozil
Former Arsenal winger Andrey Arshavin doesn’t think that Mesut Ozil will be part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans at the Emirates as he ‘slows the game down too much’.
Although Ozil found first-team football hard to come by under Unai Emery, he has featured prominently for Arteta, with over half of his appearances this season coming under his former teammate.
Speaking to 888Sport, Arshavin said: "As a player, of course, I respect him. Mesut is a world-class player. But for me personally, he slows down the game. I would prefer to use another player.
"Mikel, as we can see, is the opposite and plays him a lot. He has improved his game at Arsenal but still in the future, I do not see him there.
"He also does not shoot enough. He always looks to pass and that makes it simple for the defence.”
Ceballos acknowledges Valencia’s interest
Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos has admitted that Valencia were interested in signing him during the January transfer window.
Ceballos moved to Arsenal on a season-long loan from Real Madrid in July but faded after a promising start to the season.
The Spain international was linked with a return to his homeland but the arrival of Arteta as manager in December led to Ceballos regaining his place in Arsenal’s midfield.
"Yes, my agent told me about the interest of teams and I did not play because I came back from injury,” Ceballos told Spanish TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones.
"I started training and changed my situation. In the last month and a half I felt important. I knew about Valencia's interest."
Sagna backs Saliba to make an impact
Bacary Sagna has backed William Saliba to make an impact at Arsenal ahead of his return to the club next season.
Saliba joined Arsenal in a £27m deal from Saint-Etienne but was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the duration of the 2019-20 season.
"First he will need to adapt to English football,” Sagna told Goal. “He is a big prospect for the future but Arsenal need him to perform as soon as he starts.
"He is aware of that probably, but he has a lot of qualities and he will learn fast. Hopefully he will achieve good things and become one of the best centre-backs in the league.
"He is very confident in defending, he is not afraid to defend one against one and most of the time he wins the duels, which is the best quality as a defender.
"You need some security, you need some presence and he has that.”
