The Arsenal morning headlines as fans send message to the board and Mikel Arteta makes demand

Here are your Arsenal morning headlines for Tuesday, April 7.

Arsenal fan group urges club to ‘urgently address’ key issue

The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) has called on the club’s owners to address the issue of unpaid matchday staff at the Emirates Stadium.

Continued disruption to Premier League fixtures led to an announcement over the weekend that stated casual workers employed to work at home matches have received no pay since last month.

The AST said they were "concerned to read that many of the matchday staff at Arsenal are not being paid - caterers, cleaners and more.

"We hope this situation will be urgently addressed by Arsenal and their contractors. No one in the Arsenal family should needlessly suffer at this time."

Martinelli sends message to Arsenal supporters

Gabriel Marinelli has sent a message to Arsenal supporters as the suspension of Premier League football continues throughout April.

Recent announcements have indicated that any resumption of football around the world will only become possible when the time is “safe and appropriate to do so.”

In a statement the league noted: “"The Premier League is working closely with the whole of professional football in this country, as well as with the Government, public agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the game achieves a collaborative solution.

"With this, there is a combined objective for all remaining domestic league and cup matches to be played, enabling us to maintain the integrity of each competition."

In a seven word post on Instagram, Martinelli stating: "Saudade de fazer o que eu amo," which roughly translates to "I miss doing what I love."

The young striker has been a shining light for the Gunners this season with a number of key goals in his debut campaign.

Arteta demands more from Torreira

Despite impressing in his debut season for Arsenal, Lucas Torreira’s 2019/20 campaign has been one hampered by injuries.

The Uruguayan had once been touted as the next big thing at the heart of the Gunners’ midfield. Similar chants to the ones previously sung about Patrick Vieira had put him up on a pedestal, but this season has seen him come crashing down.

With a break in football comes increased transfer speculation and the 24-year-old has been frequently linked with a move back to Italy. Milan have been the most frequently mentioned suitors to end his two year spell in English football.

However, the arrival of Mikel Arteta could be seen as a major stumbling block in producing a successful Arsenal career. To date, Arteta has failed to find a suitable role for the midfielder, much like previous manager Unai Emery had struggled.

Both managers have been caught in two minds of whether Torreira is a traditional number 10 or a box-to-box midfielder. Such questions raise doubts over whether or not he is the answer to Arteta’s midfield problems.
