Mikel Arteta's message

One of the leading factors in the postponement happening was the diagnosis of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, with it being revealed on Thursday evening that the Spaniard had tested positive for the virus.

The illness meant that Arteta himself along with every member of playing and coaching staff at the Emirates Stadium going into self-isolation as a precaution.

However, the Gunners boss sent an encouraging message on Friday.

"Thanks for your words and support," he wrote. "Feeling better already.

Gunners eye Diogo Jota

According to the Daily Mail , Arsenal have added Wolves striker Diogo Jota to their wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

The forward has been in impressive form this season, scoring 15 times in all competitions so far.

Though any fee that Wolves demand for the striker is likely to be high, especially considering that they will owe a percentage of the final price to the player's former club Atletico Madrid.

FIFA's update

FiFA have moved to recommend that international fixtures are postponed in light of the Coronavirus outbreak, meaning that players are not likely to be going off on international duty during what was going to be the international break at the end of the month.

England were due to play friendly matches against Italy and Denmark, but both games have already been Postponed.

Despite the recommendation, FIFA say that: "the final decision on this issue rests with the respective competition organisers or relevant member association in case of friendlies," meaning that some could still possibly go ahead.
