The Arsenal midfielder 'wanted' by AC Milan in January transfer window - and it's not Mesut Ozil

There could be some movement at Arsenal in the January transfer window.

In terms of new signings, club director Josh Kroenke has already hinted that they are open to business.

"As for January, I don't want to get ahead of ourselves," he told the BBC . "We've got to evaluate some things in the short term and figure out where we might need to address areas going forward, so when January does roll around we’re going to be proactive again."

But the Gunners could be bidding farewell to some players.

Shkodran Mustafi was told in the summer that he was free to leave and that's a situation that could be revisited in the new year.

As is the future of Mesut Ozil.

Football.london understands that the Gunners hope to find a buyer for the former Germany international in January amid links to Fenerbahce as well as both Milan clubs.

However, Ozil is not the player in question.

According to reports in Italy , AC Milan are thinking about a swoop for Mohamed Elneny who is currently on loan at Besiktas.

Furthermore, the report states that a deal could be done for the region of £15m and that Elneny is a possible replacement for Franck Kessie amid links to Wolves.

It's also claimed that the Egypt international is open to the idea of changing clubs in the new year.

Elneny's league debut for Besiktas ended in disaster.

The midfielder saw red just 75 minutes into his debut for the Turkish side, as he lashed out after being elbowed by his opponent, who also saw red for his part in the incident.

'Martinelli has shown us he's hungry' says Emery

Suspension has limited him to that single domestic appearance but he has played 90 minutes in both of Besiktas' Europa League games thus far which have ended in defeat against Slovan Bratislava and Wolves.
