The Arsenal Invincible 'to join' Freddie Ljungberg's coaching staff ahead of Norwich City trip

There could soon be an Arsenal 'Invincibles' reunion, if reports are to be believed.

It's all change at the Emirates Stadium.

Unai Emery is out and Freddie Ljungberg will take charge of the clash against Norwich City on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners go in search of a first win in eight games across all competitions.

The final straw for the Spaniard was the 2-1 home defeat against Frankfurt on Thursday night.

In the statement, which was published on Arsenal's website, Josh Kroenke spoke on behalf of the board and the club's owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment.

"Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand," Kroenke said. "We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.

"The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.

"We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward.

"The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete."

According to the Guardian, Ljungberg will be allowed to form his own coaching staff, which is expected to be outlined on Saturday.

In addition, the report claims this could see the surprise inclusion of Gilberto Silva, who lives in London and was part of the Gunners side which went the whole 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten.

Ljungberg took charge of the Arsenal training session at London Colney on Friday afternoon and has vowed to do his very best to bring smiles back to fans' faces.

"However long I oversee Arsenal for I will give everything I have to put smiles on faces again," he said. "We have a busy few weeks ahead and the team needs your support.

"Let’s get to work!"
