The Arsenal Foundation have joined with the HIS Church charity to further combat the struggles people in their surrounding communities are facing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Working alongside Islington Council, the Gunners will help provide 30,000 free meals as well as essential items such as sanitary and personal hygiene products to those in need.
This effort has been paired with a pledge of £100,000 to local organisations with a further £50,000 acting as partnership funding with Islington Giving towards their COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
The Arsenal Foundation have been working with Arsenal in the Community whose head, Alan Sefton MBE, spoke about the contributions the club are making across Islington at this time.
“We are very proud to be able to support the people of Islington during this challenging time," he told Arsenal's official website.
"Islington Council have set up an extremely well-coordinated response and it is essential that we play our part in supporting that.
“This aligned community response is the result of a lot of hard work and collaboration with a number of local organisations. By working together with Islington Council and others, we hope we can continue to identify and support those in our local community who most need our support.”
HIS Church have been running for 13 years and usually distribute just over 50,000 meals a week across the UK.
With the coronavirus having such a widespread impact across the country, however, that number has boomed to 200,000 meals a week which are distributed through a network of 15 charities.
Alongside the financial backing, Arsenal in the community staff have also volunteered to assist in transporting essential NHS workers who have been unwavering in their efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
