The areas in the Bristol region that are almost Covid-free

The number of Bristol areas with low covid rates is continuing to decline slowly, latest government figures show.

But large parts of the region have low numbers of cases, with a total of 46 areas across the city recording fewer than three coronavirus cases in the seven days to May 21.

In comparison, ten days earlier, 48 areas in the city were recording such low numbers of cases and earlier in the month there were 50 - which is a decline of eight per cent.

The news comes as a neighbourhood in inner-city Bristol is recording one of the country's worst covid rates and as the number of covid cases involving the Indian variant in the South West increased by more than 43 per cent in less than a week.

Below are the neighbourhoods which recorded fewer than three coronavirus cases in the seven days to May 11, and therefore had their data suppressed:

Where is the data coming from?

You can see the latest national data on the government's website.

The map displays weekly data, which are updated everyday.

The data can be viewed by local authority but also by smaller sections called 'Middle Super Output Areas'.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.
