The areas in Swansea with the highest rates of Covid

The areas of Swansea where Covid is the most prevalent have been revealed in the latest set of statistics released by Public Health Wales.

The data, which is for the time period of January 2 to January 8, shows that the city's average cases per 100,000 people currently stands at 1,659.2.

This is compared to the all Wales average of 1,492.4. The highest case rate in Wales at the moment is in Neath Port Talbot, which has 1,893.0 cases per 100,000 population.

But more of a localised breakdown across Swansea has revealed the areas of the city where rates are the highest.

A breakdown of each area shows that Morriston South is currently the highest with 2,289.8 cases per 100,000 population, followed by Cockett with a rate of 2,180.5 and St Thomas with a rate of 2,176.5.

Gorseinon is also the area with the highest number of cases - currently 193

Llangyfelach and Tircoed - 160 cases (1,903.2 cases per 100,000)

Townhill - 167 cases (1,835.6 cases per 100,000)

Gorseinon - 196 cases (1,842.3 cases per 100,000)
