The areas in North Somerset where there have been the most coronavirus deaths

The North Somerset areas hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic have been revealed.

An interactive map, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), allows you to find out how many coronavirus-related deaths there have been in an area.

In the North Somerset area, Portishead recorded the most deaths, with five people losing their lives after contracting Covid-19.

Nailsea has had two deaths recorded and other areas such as Clevedon and Backwell have each had one coronavirus death confirmed.

There are also areas of North Somerset which haven't recorded any deaths including Congresbury.

In Bristol, Cadbury Heath and Oldland Common recorded the most deaths, where six people lost their lives after contracting coronavirus.

ONS data includes deaths in care homes and in the community - such as in someone's own home.

The map shows the biggest outbreaks are in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Leeds.

Across the UK, 28,446 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community while the latest figures published revealed there have been dozens of deaths in care homes in the area linked to Covid-19.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has previously said the UK is past the Covid-19 peak and is expected to announce a lockdown exit plan later this week.
