The areas currently least affected by coronavirus in Greater Manchester

The latest Covid-19 figures reveal infection rates have increased in all but one of Greater Manchester's nine boroughs.

Only in Bury are rates falling - and Oldham continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in the whole of Greater Manchester.

Infection rates are lowest in Bolton, but cases are rising in the town again.

But in some areas, only a handful of new cases are being recorded, according to the latest available weekly figures to July 4.

The areas of Greater Manchester with the latest least Covid cases can now be revealed.

The Manchester Evening News analysed data contained in a Government interactive map charting the number of positive Covid-19 test results in each neighbourhood.

The map, drawn up using Office for National Statistics (ONS) data, reveals the number of coronavirus infections per 'neighbourhood' per 100,000 people in the week ending July 4, the latest data available.

Areas with less than 200 cases per 100,00 people are shaded in light blue.

Dark green indicates an area where cases stand at between 50 and 99.

Light green indicated 10-49 and yellow, 0 to nine cases.

The Broughton Park area of Salford currently has the lowest case rate per 100,000 people - at 82.1.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate currently stands at 474.0 cases per 100,000 of the population - which is higher than the national average.

Just six new cases were recorded in Broughton Park in the seven days to July 4, according to the figures, which in itself represents a fall from the previous week's figures.

Other areas with low rates include the Heald Green East and Marple and Rose Hill areas of Stockport, Sedgley Park in Salford and Hazel Grove West in Stockport.
