The Apprentice losers hide show secret by always wearing scarves when they leave

The 2022 series of The Apprentice kicked off on Thursday night - with Lord Alan Sugar back to put a new batch of business hopefuls through their paces.

Harry Mahmood became the first Apprentice candidate to be given the boot on the new series after his logo - which appeared to resemble a turd - ultimately sunk the team's cruise brand.

BBC viewers were delighted to welcome the show back after a two year hiatus - taking to social media to discuss the highlights in the first instalment of Lord Sugar's hunt for a new asset to his brand.

Boardroom showdowns and contestants unceremoniously being given the finger by the business tycoon are often the best bits of The Apprentice.

Viewers live for the moments they stomp out and head to their taxi alone, as they insist we haven't heard the last of their deck chairs for dogs business.

But what if the juiciest scenes when the losers are cast out into the cold aren't what they appear to be at all?

The business hopefuls are often seen attempting to ply their trade on gloriously sunny days, only to be wrapped up in big winter coats and scarves as they head home to reassess their lives hours later.

It's something that hasn't been missed by fans - and the explanation will change the way you view the show forever.

The shot where you see them disappointed, dejected, walking out of Lord Sugar's offices with their tails between their legs isn't really representative of how gutted they actually are.

That scene is filmed before any of the challenges even take place.

It's all a massive lie (BBC)

In an ominous sign of things to come, all the contestants do the much-loved 'walk of shame' on the very first day of filming.

Only one lucky person will find comfort that their loser walk will never see the light of day - as they eventually become the winner and Alan Sugar's business partner.

Coats and scarves are used to cover up their clothing because the contestants will inevitably be wearing a different outfit on the week they are sent packing.

After Alan tells them why they are an embarrassment to him, themselves and their entire family, they slip on the same coat and scarf and do their talk to the camera about how utterly heartbroken they are.

By the magic of TV, it all looks seamless and we're none the wiser.

Why not just film the walk out to the taxi when they actually get in it? It's not possible, because Lord Sugar's offices are miles away from the TV studio where The Apprentice is filmed.

Our world is a lie.
