The Apprentice 2018: Kurran Pooni grounded as he becomes the latest candidate fired by Lord Sugar

Kurran Pooni has become the latest casualty of the boardroom after Lord Sugar finally run out of patience with him.

The actor, who participated in the competition with a broken arm, was given his marching orders after failing to lead his team to victory during the budget airline task.

Pooni led the marketing team to create an advert for their business venture but the team were grounded as Typhoon swept in and claimed victory.

Speaking about his exit, Pooni said: “"my team didn't win, mainly because they were incapable and couldn't produce the goods.

“My advert was gold - it's just a shame he [Lord Sugar] couldn't see it. I came here, did things my way and unfortunately it was the high way.”

Pooni, 22, was forced to be project manager on the task after dodging Lord Sugar’s request for him to lead last week’s shoe task, which he just scraped through.

But his marketing experience wasn’t enough to sell their airline to the aviation experts and employees, especially with a garish blue and orange uniform created by Jackie Fast and Camilla Ainsworth.

The dynamic duo – who were in charge of branding – also ignored Pooni’s suggest for the brand’s name, Pangea, and “went rogue” with Jetpop.

Of this, Pooni told Standard Online: “The whole point of a sub-team is that you divert some of the responsibility.

“There really is nothing else I could have done, all I have is a mobile and if I’d known they were going to be rogue and maverick I would have jumped in a taxi and gone over there myself.”

Next week, the remaining 10 candidates will set up an urban garden business in a bid to impress Lord Sugar.

The Apprentice continues Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
