The Andy Halliday Hearts 'fraud' advice offered by Kevin Kyle as he explains what the fans won't stand for

Kevin Kyle has given Andy Halliday some words of advice to make sure he gets the Hearts fans onside early doors.

The former Rangers midfielder made his competitive debut for his new club in Tuesday’s Betfred Cup win over Inverness CT at Tynecastle, coming on as a second half substitute in their 1-0 victory.

The 28-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the club, although admits he needs game time to get up to speed after being out of action for six months following his departure from Ibrox.

That should come soon enough though, with the games coming thick and fast for Robbie Neilson's side ahead of their Championship opener against Dundee in just over a week's time.

Kyle and Halliday are regulars together on Open Goal and the former Hearts number nine, who became a cult hero to supporters despite an injury-plagued stint in maroon, told him to make sure he did one thing and he’d be backed to the hilt by the Gorgie faithful.

“Just give it your all and make sure you appreciate playing in the jersey, because the fans there just love somebody that gives absolutely everything.

“They don’t like frauds.

“I never noticed them hammering their own players. If you’re a Hearts player on the end of it, that’s when you notice it.

“But if you go in there, you get liked and the fans take to you, you won’t notice that.

“I didn’t when I played but the fans were never too harsh on anybody.”
