‘The America Party will be formed the next day’: Elon Musk vows to destroy both Democrats and Republicans

Elon Musk is now the most annoying thorn in Donald Trump’s side. It wasn’t too long ago that the pair were inseparable, with Musk going so far as to cringingly bill himself as the president’s “first buddy”. But the Trump/Musk buddyship suffered rapid unscheduled disassembly over the “Big, Beautiful Bill”, with Musk promptly insinuating that Trump was a pedophile.

After a statement like that it was always going to be difficult to patch things up. Now, after a few weeks of Musk lying low, he’s back and determined to aggravate Trump as much as possible. Trump’s key bill remains in his crosshairs, and Musk is now vowing to unseat anyone in Congress who votes for it:

Musk followed this up by repeating something that nobody previously took very seriously: his plans to set up a new political party to take on both Democrats and Republicans: the (unimaginatively) titled “America Party”:

Could this work?

It’s safe to say the deck is firmly stacked against Elon Musk. He’s currently one of the most disliked people in American politics: MAGA despises him for turning on God Emperor Trump, and Democrats think he’s slime for supporting Trump (also the whole Nazi salute thing). This leaves a thin sliver of libertarian tech bros who you can generally find brown-nosing Musk in his X replies.

That, and the not inconsiderable problem of Musk being of South African origin and trying to warp U.S. politics, will likely mean his new party will explode dramatically in much the same way as his cars and rockets regularly do.

However, Musk is unfathomably rich, so his “America Party” will be able to launch incredibly well-funded challenge campaigns against whatever politicians he wants revenge against. The thing is, at this point, all the America Party will do is split (or erode) the Republican vote, allowing Democrat challengers to easily saunter into office.

We only have to look to the Wisconsin Supreme Court election to see how Musk does when he’s front and center in a political campaign. So, perhaps we should take this vow of a new party as a threat to MAGA not to come after his juicy tax breaks now that he’s split with Trump?

So I say let Musk have his new political party to play with like a new toy. At worst, it’ll only damage MAGA and the Republicans. At best, it’ll crater Musk’s various businesses as his government subsidies are removed and public opinion of him goes from rock-bottom to subterranean.
