The amazing moment at Manchester United as Cardiff City fans did something very special for Aron Gunnarsson

Cardiff City ended their season in sensational fashion against Manchester United - and gave outgoing star Aron Gunnarsson the send-off he so richly deserved.

The Icelander is leaving the club this summer, heading to Qatar to continue his career with  Al-Arabi after eight years in South Wales.

And the Bluebirds faithful let him know exactly what his commitment meant to them amid crazy scenes at Old Trafford.

A Nathaniel Mendez-Laing brace gave Neil Warnock's men all three points against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men but it was the Icelander the supporters paid tribute to after the final whistle.

In footage provided by fan Callum Ellis, the players approached the away end at the stadium, headed by Gunnarsson, who then led the supporters, signing off with a Viking clap.

It was a fitting end to his Cardiff career, a club he has served with such distinction.

He previously sent fans an emotional letter ahead of his final games, thanking them for their support over the years.

"It will probably hit me after the game, knowing that it will be my last game in front of the home fans who I've played in front of for eight years", he said.

"We've been through a lot, me and the fans.

"We've had ups and downs, good times, happy times, and tough times, as you get in football.

"We've had every bit of emotion together, and that will probably hit me a bit harder after the game.

"Game-mode for me is so focused that I don't let things like that affect me - not until the final whistle blows, anyway."
