The Alternative Premier League table where Liverpool come out on top with Arsenal in second

An alternative Premier League table has been released, and Arsenal and Liverpool fans will be happy with their final positions.

The ultimate Premier League, produced by Sky Sports takes into account each club's average finishing position over the past 50 years.

Liverpool have won 11 league titles in that time, the final one coming in the 1989/90 season. Despite not finishing at the top of the table for almost 30 years, the Reds do come out at the summit of the ultimate table with an average finishing position of 3.5.

Arsenal come in second, the Gunners have won the top division six times over the last 50 years, the final title coming in 2003/04. The average finishing position is 4.9, which accurately reflects the club's actual position in 2018/19.

Tottenham finish in fourth place, the same as their finish for the current season. Spurs' average finishing position in the top league is 8.7.

Chelsea are two positions below Spurs in sixth, the Blues' average coming out as a 10.8th place finish.

West Ham make the top half of the table, in 10th position, which as with Spurs, matches their finish for the 2018/19 season.

The table is made up of the top 20 teams with the highest average finishing position in the top division over the last 50 years, with teams such as Leeds United, Ipswich Town Nottingham Forest and Sunderland all featuring in the alternative table.
