The alternative Danske Bank Premiership points table

A number of 'provincial' clubs have threatened to wrestle the Gibson Cup away from Belfast over the past decade.

But none have managed to do it.

Linfield (5-times champions), Crusaders (3) and Cliftonville (2) have dominated local football's biggest prize since 2010.

Glentoran's last title came in 2009 when Alan McDonald's side lifted the trophy.

You have to date back to 2003 to unearth the last team outside of Belfast to win the Premiership crown - Portadown.

In recent years Coleraine and Ballymena United have come closest to finishing top of the pile.

But if you took Belfast's 'big four' - Linfield, Glentoran, Cliftonville and Crusaders - out of the equation, which club has accumulated the most points in the past 10 seasons?

Here's a table of each club that has featured in the Premiership since 2010, and the points they won up to last season.

Alternative Premiership table

The highest non-title winning points total in the Premiership over the past 10 years was Coleraine back in 2017/18 when they accumulated 89 points.

That year the Bannsiders finished runners-up to Crusaders in a thrilling climax to the campaign.

Four teams share the most defeats in a season (27) record during the past decade - Distillery, Portadown, Carrick and Newry.

Fewest defeats in a season goes to Coleraine in 2017/18 when the Bannsiders lost just once in the league.
