Month-long closure for Aldi in Redfield while it's 'stripped out'

People won't be able to visit a popular supermarket for a whole month while it is "stripped out".

Aldi in Church Road, Redfield, will shut on May 12 for refurbishment work.

But store manager Patrick Dear said he is "excited" for the "brand new shopping experience" which customers will have when the store reopens in June.

He told Bristol Live: "We are bringing the store into the 21st century, we have been here for around 15 years like this and it's just a bit tired.

"It will feel like a brand new store, apart from knocking it down, everything is changing.

A massive new Bargain Buys store is opening in Stoke Gifford

"I am really excited to reopen, it should be a really good experience for customers."

Changes being made to the supermarket include brand new fridges and freezers, which will be in an aisle format, rather than going around the store's edge.

This is why Aldi checkout workers scan your shopping so fast

The refurbishment follows similar work at Aldi stores in Bedminster and Longwell Green.

The shop will reopen on June 13.
