The Aintree fashion trend breaking tradition at the Grand National racecourse

There is one trend that has been taking Aintree racecourse by storm and giving traditional dresses a run for their money.

While many racegoers opted for glamorous gowns, some ladies wanted to make a statement with a power suit.

Women wore suits in all colours at this year's Randox Health Grand National festival, accessorising them with sky-high heels and loose, tousled hair.

Among them were Hollyoaks actresses Sarah Jane Dunne and Nikki Sanderson who shunned a dress and went for clean-cut suits.

Nikki wore a simple fresh mint-green ensemble with delicate gold jewellery and black heels, while Sarah wore a cobalt-blue suit adding a spring-inspired scarf for a belt.

Sarah, who played Mandy Richardson in the Channel 4 soap, wore her blazer open with a white croptop showing off her gym-honed abs.

Bright-coloured suits of pillar-box red, hot pink and crisp white on the course were spotted at the festival making it a key fashion trend across the three days.

And it may have been a smart choice given the drop in temperatures since the beginning of April.

Even out own reporter, Catherine Murphy wore a shocking-pink suit on Ladies Day. Catherine appeared on TV in her racing outfit to talk about the ECHO's open letter to the Daily Mail about their coverage of women and the photos they use during the festival.

But suits weren't the only trend of 2019, there was one particular dress that caught the eye a lot of ladies.

A number of women have headed to Pretty Little Thing to find their Aintree outfit.

The white ruffle detail plunge midi dress has proved to be a popular choice on both the Opening Day, Ladies Day and the final day.

It features a white lace fabric with extreme ruffle detailing and a plunge neckline.

The dress also encompasses ruffled flared wings and a peplum ruffle in a popular fishtail finish.

Most of the women at Aintree have chosen to team the white dress with silver strappy heels and a sparkly clutch.

And of course, many have added bold and beautiful headdresses in cream and white.
