GYMNASTIC CHAMPS ...
The road to Rio continues for Olympic hopefuls at the British Gymnastics Championships on Sunday (BBC2 , 2.30pm), with the event in Liverpool part of the selection process for the squad that will be announced on 12 July. The standout battle will be between world champion Max Whitlock and world silver medallist Louis Smith on the pommel horse, but watch out for talented junior Giarnni Regini-Moran who could make the men’s floor final and challenge Olympians Dan Purvis and Sam Oldham. Commonwealth champion Claudia Fragapane will go up against world championship bronze-medal winner Amy Tinkler and Ellie Downie for the all-around title, while Becky Downie and Ruby Harrold are set to perform difficult routines on the asymmetric bars.

This is an all or nothing selection process with the winner of the final of each Olympic event, subject to reaching the minimum time, going to Rio. For the men, world champions Adam Peaty and James Guy will be expecting to book their places, while in the women’s events, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, who won her first medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and Jazmin Carlin, a gold medallist in Glasgow, are likely to make the team.

Peter Sagan will be attempting to pull off the Flanders-Roubaix double, having won the former last week. Fabian Cancellara is making his final appearance looking for a fourth win but the outsider to watch is Tom Boonen, aiming to make history at 35 years old by becoming the first rider to win on the cobbles five times.
