The advantage Tottenham have over Liverpool, Man United and PSG in £30m Ryan Sessegnon transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have until Thursday to tie up a deal for Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs began the summer by smashing their transfer record with the signing of Tanguy Ndombele for £63m from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and he's being tipped to fill the void and be an improvement on Mousa Dembele.

The Frenchman along with Jack Clarke - loaned back to Leeds United for the season - became the Lilywhites' first signings since Lucas Moura arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2018 January transfer window.

It was an impressive start to the window, although any fans will agree that the squad needs strengthening if the club are to push on and win trophies this season.

The good news for supporters is that football.london understands the club are looking to tie up a deal for the teenager before deadline day.

Furthermore, Sky Sports claim that Spurs and Fulham are discussions over a deal for Sessegnon, while it has been reported that the north London outfit are willing to include Josh Onomah in exchange to get the £30m transfer over the line.

Sessegnon to Spurs is expected to happen despite comments from Scott Parker last week where he stated the teenager could still be at Craven Cottage come Friday morning.

"At this present moment, I expect Ryan still to be here when the window shuts," said the Fulham boss. "Obviously I have read the speculation. Will it affect him? That would be up to Ryan.

"It is not as if the phone has been ringing off the hook, a bid every other day for him and Fulham are turning it down, for him to have the hump.

"I had this too as a young player. But if there is one good thing about the transfer window it is that come 5 o’clock next week when the door shuts, he can’t go anywhere."

Sessegnon has just a year left on his first professional contract at Craven Cottage and is unlikely to sign an extension.

So that stance coupled with the £50m valuation from last summer which is likely to have dropped significantly, it seems like a transfer is the best option for all parties involved.

Spurs signing Sessegnon would be somewhat of a coup.

The 19-year-old who scored twice and weighed in with six assists across 35 Premier League appearances last season has previously attracted interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG.

In addition, La Provence in France state that Marseille want to lure him to Ligue 1.

However, it's Tottenham who have the advantage over any interest party.

Why? Well, as reported by football.london earlier in the summer Spurs have the advantage due to Sessegnon being keen on working under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine also played a key role in convincing Ndombele to join the Lilywhites amid interest from the Red Devils as well as Serie A giants Juventus.
