The transfer window is hotting up, as Premier League clubs have just four more days to complete incoming transfers.
It seems that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are ready to go head to head in an attempt to sign Sporting Club De Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
It looked as though the Portuguese international was heading towards Old Trafford, however, football.london understands that after taking a back seat earlier in the window, talks are now taking place between Spurs and Sporting over the midfielder's future, stealing a march on their Premier League rivals.
It now looks to be a straight battle between the two clubs as to who, if any, will sign the 24-year-old before Thursday's deadline.
However, there is one person involved in the deal who could put Spurs' rivals back in the driving seat in the pursuit of Fernandes.
According to the Daily Star , Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes has been drafted in by Sporting in order to facilitate a deal, and the 53-year-old has been involved in many high profile deals involving the Red Devils.
He was involved in the deals that saw Angel Di Maria and Jose Mourinho arrive at Old Trafford as well as the transfer that saw Cristiano Ronaldo move away from the club in 2009.
The agent is also the representative of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Fernandes has caught the eye of clubs across Europe with his form last season, but it now looks to be a two horse race for his services, and with any transfer, a lot of toing and froing likely before Thursday's deadline.
