The advantage Lloyd Isgrove believes Bolton Wanderers will have when League One season starts

Lloyd Isgrove believes Bolton's team spirit can provide the perfect platform to build on in League One next season.

Ian Evatt's side secured an immediate return to the third tier after a sensational second half of the season and the club will be hoping to carry that momentum into the 2021-22 campaign.

Isgrove is out of contract this summer but is in discussions over a new deal and feels the tight-knit nature of the group means they are starting from a strong position to make the step up.

He said: “I’ve had a promotion from League One with Barnsley, there are other lads in there too who have done well at that level. But I think just the spirit we have in the group will give us a head start.

“You’ve got some big clubs in the division so of course you will need a bit of extra quality here and there but speaking to the lads, they fancy it. I think it’s such a good bond it will be an advantage, especially with a full pre-season together.”
