The adult beverage MJ sipped in ‘The Last Dance’? Wyc helped make it

More than a few viewers of the ESPN Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance” noticed His Airness getting into some sort of potent potable in several segments of the series which aired for the first time on Sunday evening.

And if you wondered what it was MJ was sipping, it has a connection to the same team that beat him in Game 2 of the first round of the 1986 East NBA Playoffs despite his historic 63-point game.

The drink? His Cincoro tequila. The connection? Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck.

The Boston Basketball Partners L.L.C. lead Governor forged a bond with the legendary Chicago Bulls player and now-Charlotte Hornets majority team owner Jordan and several other partners over dinner that would eventually lead them to start a tequila company together.

Along with Los Angeles Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss, Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens and Grousbeck’s then-fiancée Emilia Fazzalari, a high-end tequila corporation was born — for more on its history, check out the Celtics Wire’s coverage of the foundation of Cincoro here.
