The 92-year-old rock fan who still loves going to gigs to watch her favourite band

She may be 92 years old - but that hasn't stopped rock fan Chrissie Younge going out to watch her favourite band.

The Bolton OAP has watched The Jade Assembly more than 60 times since she stumbled across them by chance back in 2013.

And Chrissie, from Egerton, has even given up her secret that has kept her following the Bolton-based group.

She credits drinking dark rum every day to enabling her to avidly follow her favourite rock band - and we can't say we blame her.

The retired chiropractor lives by herself and has no children so described the band as being 'like her family' and has no plans to give up her nights rocking out, claiming she will do so "until the day I die".

Chrissie said: "They’re like my family.

"I haven’t got any family or children but they have welcomed me with open arms.

"They pick me up before their gigs in the bus and (lead singer) John (Foster) sings all the way there and plays the guitar.

"He always plays my favourite song Nothing Changes.

"It's great and I plan on following them until the day I die.

"I'll never stop going to their gigs - it keeps me young."

A former can-can and professional ballet dancer, Chrissie said that she spends every gig "at the front dancing from start to finish".

Chrissie, originally from Lincolnshire, puts her youth down to eating very little and drinking tea during the day followed by dark rum with soda every evening.

However she did admit: "Whenever I go and see the band I indulge in a drink or two as well - it would be rude not to."

Band manager Mick Watson said that Chrissie is famous for "knocking back drinks like a youngster" at their gigs.

"The Jade Assembly’s fans are called the Jade Army," he explained.

"All the fans say she is head of the army.

"She just laughs and says she’s glad to be head of something."
