The 9 Nottingham areas where Covid cases are falling despite surge across county

Covid cases are decreasing in some city areas despite numbers continuing to climb across many areas of Nottinghamshire, a new government interactive map shows.

The overall infection rate for Nottingham is still high, similar to most of the UK, with a rate of 1,625.3 cases per 100,000 people and 5479 total in the seven days up to January 1. This is an increase of 22.5 per cent on previous figures.

But in nine city neighbourhoods there has been a decrease in cases, despite the more transmissible Omicron variant resulting in the rates remaining relatively high.

They are as follows:

Wilford & Silverdale - Down 10.5 per cent. 94 total cases, 1,529.5 infection rate.

City Centre & Trent Bridge - Down 13.5 per cent. 134 total cases, 1,015.6 infection rate.

University Park, Lenton Abbey & Jubilee Campus - Down 0.7 per cent. 135 total cases, 1,168.4 infection rate.

Wollaton Vale - Down 18.7 per cent. 126 total cases, 1,540.5 infection rate.
