The 8 players Manchester United could be without against Tottenham

Life under Jose Mourinho has started well for Tottenham.

Three games in the Portuguese has a perfect record, with back-to-back triumphs in the Premier League and safe progression to the round of 16 in the Champions League thanks to a win over Olympiacos.

But the biggest game, for him personally, will come on Wednesday night, when Spurs travel to the home of his previous employers Manchester United.

United have had an even worse start to the season than Spurs, sitting tenth in the Premier League table heading into the match at Old Trafford, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under real pressure.

There have even been reports that if United are beaten by Spurs it could be the end for Solskjaer at Old Trafford, with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino waiting in the wings.

Tottenham will be taking on a United team depleted by injuries in front of the Amazon Prime cameras on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho says his time at Manchester United is “a closed chapter”

United could have no fewer than eight first team players sidelined when they arrive at Old Trafford for the match against Spurs.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly are long-term injured and definitely out, while Paul Pogba has failed to recover in time for the reunion with old foe Mourinho.

Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo continue their rehabilitation from injury and are not available, while reports suggest that Anthony Martial , who went off during the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the weekend, will also miss the match.

Then there are Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic , both of whom have been carrying knocks and will face late fitness tests ahead of the match against Tottenham.

McTominay is expected to be available, but should he not make it, the pressure Solskjaer finds himself under will not be helped by the extensive injury list he is having to deal with.
