The 76ers want make it work with Ben Simmons and they’re absolutely right to try

The 76ers are at a real tipping point with Ben Simmons after their loss in the 2nd round to the Hawks. If it wasn’t official before, it almost certainly is now.

Simmons future with the Sixers has been a big topic of discussion this week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. So big that Rich Paul — who is Simmons’ agent — had to be included.

There hasn’t been a trade request made at this point, which, let’s be honest, he’s not really in the best position to request a trade right now. So, of course, he hasn’t.

But the two sides apparently might try to make things work. Simmons and Doc Rivers have met and are making a plan to move forward together, per Woj.

That doesn’t mean this is over, though. We don’t know how those conversations will go and what comes with them. And anytime a player’s agent gets involved in talks, there’s a possibility a move might be made.

But for now, 76ers fans, it seems Simmons will still be around. At least for a bit. And the 76ers are smart to keep it that way.
