The 7 most interesting details from the ‘Stranger Things’ season 3 trailer

Stranger Things — currently fighting for a Final Four spot in our Netflix originals bracket — dropped a season three trailer on Wednesday morning that has everyone buzzing.

Before I go on, let’s give the usual WARNING: SPOILERS ARE AHEAD!!!

When we last left our young friends in Hawkins, Indiana, Eleven used her powers to close the Upside Down gate and Will’s friends and family got out whatever disease or being that was inside of him. The lab in the middle of town appears to be vacated … and a ginormous monster in the now-closed Upside Down appears to be extremely mad.

So what are the strange things we saw in the trailer? Here’s a breakdown.

1. Eleven goes back to the Upside Down

Just because the gate is closed doesn’t mean she can’t do her sensory deprivation thing in water and get in there telepathically. And that looks like what’s going on throughout the trailer:

2. Government baddies are back

At least that’s my takeaway here. And did we really expect anything different than that? When there’s an interdimensional mystery in the middle of a Midwest town, it’s not like the U.S. government is going to say, “Oh, the gate’s closed, so we’re done with that!”

3. What got into Billy Hargrove?

I think that’s the character who we see in the shower looking at this freaky mark on his arm. Did something infect him like whatever got into Will last season? Uh-oh.

4. Cary Elwes!

The Princess Bride actor plays the mayor in this season, so there’s bound to be a political slant to what goes on this season.

5. Eleven starts life as a “normal” teenager

That won’t last long.

6. Poor Steve

He’s the best. Please stop beating him up.

6. GAH WHAT IS THIS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!?!?!

Nope, not a Demogorgon. Something MUCH worse.
